Mount Juliet has no old buildings, which simplifies things

What is not here

Mount Juliet has no historic commercial district. Its four National Register listings are individual rural properties, and Wilson County's historic commercial districts are in Lebanon and Watertown. There is essentially no old downtown.

What is here instead

Providence Marketplace runs 830,000 square feet across 103 acres and is classified as a single-story power center. Providence Central is a 175-acre entitled masterplan for 2.6 million square feet of commercial space.

The growth

Population 45,172 in 2025, up 14.9% since 2020 — the fastest of any market we serve — with the highest median household income of the three at $107,068.

A town built almost entirely since 1990

Mount Juliet's commercial fabric is unusually uniform, and it makes planning straightforward. Single-story power-center retail, big box, small suites attached to retail and medical rather than standalone office floors, and very large modern distribution buildings — Under Armour's million square foot center, and a five-story Amazon robotics fulfilment center on Golden Bear Gateway employing more than a thousand people.

There is almost no masonry storefront stock, no historic overlay and no design review of the kind Franklin or Nolensville run. Whatever you occupy here was almost certainly built in the last thirty years, is probably single story, and is probably deep.

Which makes the light problem predictable

Deep-plan, wide-span, storefront-glazed. Strong light at the front of the bay and a steep falloff behind it. Office suites in Mount Juliet tend to be small and attached to a retail or medical use rather than sitting in a multi-story building, which means the ceiling is lower and the artificial lighting was chosen for merchandising or clinical work rather than for growing anything.

None of that is difficult. It is simply specific, and it is why we take a reading at the placement instead of working from a floor plan.

Frequently asked questions

Have you done work in Mount Juliet?

Not yet. We serve it and it is inside our published service area — we would rather be straight about that than imply otherwise. Our nearest work is across Nashville.

Our unit is a shallow retail bay in a power center. Worth doing?

Usually more worth it than in a large space. One well-placed specimen in a small room changes the whole atmosphere, where the same plant in a big lobby disappears.

Do you work with property managers as well as tenants?

Yes, and in center-format retail that is often the more sensible route — common areas are where planting does the most work.

What is the commitment?

Weekly or biweekly maintenance, $350 a week minimum, $3,000 project minimum. Plants we install are covered by a replacement guarantee under the maintenance program.
