The code, precisely
Mount Juliet's Land Development Code Sec. 10-109.3 requires one natural canopy tree for every 2,000 square feet of vehicular surface area, with interior planting areas of at least 300 square feet and a minimum seven-foot dimension. Sec. 10-112.5 requires one tree for every 50 linear feet of street yard, at least eight feet tall and 1¾ inches caliper, of a species maturing to 35 feet or more.
The trigger people miss
Sec. 10-103.3 applies the whole of Article X to any expansion exceeding 10% of gross floor area or 5,000 square feet, whichever is less — or 25% of the land surface area. A modest expansion can pull an entire site into current landscape standards.
Even the sign base
Article XI requires monument sign bases of at least twelve inches to be planted with low-growing shrubs, flowers or other landscaping that will not block the sign.
Read the code before you design the frontage
Sec. 10-108.3 sets minimum plant sizes at installation: eight feet and 1¾-inch caliper for deciduous trees, six feet for evergreens, two feet and three canes for shrubs and hedges, twelve inches for vines. Sec. 10-109.2 requires perimeter parking screening that occupies 75% of a vertical plane with no more than six continuous feet void of plants, berms, fences or walls. Sec. 10-111 governs transitional protective yards on an A-through-D matrix requiring 50% locally adapted evergreen shrubs.
None of that is our permit to pull — a site landscape plan belongs to your landscape architect. But it is the context every container, entry planting and patio decision sits inside, and knowing it stops you buying material that will not count toward anything.
What we do, which is the part inside the glass and on the patio
Interior planting for dining rooms, retail floors and entries. Exterior containers, entry planters, patio and seating-area planting, and seasonal rotation. Holiday and seasonal décor, interior and exterior, with off-season storage of your materials for a small fee.
The restaurant constraints are the same everywhere and worth restating: airborne grease coats leaves, heat near a line dries them, chair backs and bus tubs destroy anything in the service path, and staff watering kills more restaurant plants than neglect does. We specify around all four and ask that nobody on staff waters anything.
The retail version
Plants as merchandising. Sightline from the door, tolerance for a storefront window that gets genuinely harsh afternoon sun, and enough mobility to move when the floor set changes. In a Publix-anchored center, the useful planting is at the entries and any café or seating zone — not distributed across a deep sales floor where it will quietly die.

Can you produce the landscape plan our permit needs?
No. Site landscape plans need a landscape architect. We design, install and maintain interior planting and exterior containers, which is a different scope.
