Nashville / Plant Design for Nashville Architects & Designers
Interior planting has a spec section. Most projects never use it
We work with Nashville architects, interior designers, developers and general contractors — at design development, in the project manual, and on the FF&E schedule rather than in the last week before opening.

Where planting belongs in your documents
CSI MasterFormat section 12 92 00, Interior Planters and Artificial Plants, inside Division 12, Furnishings. It is a specifiable product category, not a decorating decision.
Where it sits in the budget
GSA defines FF&E as movable furniture, fixtures and equipment with no permanent connection to the structure. Movable planters and their contents are exactly that, which is why they belong in the FF&E line rather than the construction contract.
Who we have built for
The Factory at Franklin — over four hundred plants across an adaptive-reuse campus. Metropolis HQ — full design, installation and maintenance of a new headquarters. HMC Civil Rights Law, including a custom grow light installation.
The problem is when we get called, not whether
Most plant vendors arrive after furniture installation, which means the planters are placed rather than integrated, the vessel selection is limited to what fits the gaps left over, and the plant list has to work against a daylight condition nobody measured. It usually looks fine on opening day and starts failing in month three.
Bringing planting into design development changes three things. Planters can be built into millwork, seating and reception joinery rather than standing beside them. The plant list can be built against the actual daylight model instead of an assumption. And any room that genuinely will not support the design can get grow lighting specified as part of the electrical package rather than retrofitted — which is what we did at HMC Civil Rights Law.
How we work with a design team
We read drawings. We will attend a design development meeting, take light readings on site once there is a building to read, and issue a plant and planter schedule that your specifier can drop into the project manual under 12 92 00.
On the delivery side, everything is inspected, acclimated and staged before it reaches the site, which matters more on a construction program than anywhere else — a plant delivered straight from a greenhouse into a building still being commissioned will not survive to handover.
Nashville's design community
AIA Middle Tennessee is at 49 Music Square West. Gensler opened a Nashville office in 2022 and took 12,500 square feet at Nashville Yards in December 2025. HASTINGS Architecture, which designed FirstBank's headquarters at ONE22ONE, runs a team of around a hundred including thirty-eight registered architects. It is a small enough community that being easy to work with is worth more than being cheap.
On-site consultation
We walk the space, read the light, and talk through how the room gets used before anything is specified.
Custom plant design
Plant and vessel selection matched to your brand, your light, and the way the space needs to feel.
Delivery and install
Our team pots, places, and cleans up, and leaves care notes for anything you handle yourself.
Ongoing maintenance
Watering, fertilizing, pruning, rotation, and pest treatment on a set schedule, including swapping out anything that stops thriving.
How a project runs
01
Consultation on site
We come look at the space, take light readings, and scope it.
02
Design proposal
Plant and vessel selections with placements and a quote.
03
Install day
Sourced, potted, delivered, placed. Usually one visit.
04
Care route
Recurring maintenance visits on your schedule.
Plant Savvy is the third vendor I have had at our hotel in three years, and Savannah and her team are the only vendor that truly saw our needs and put our ideas into action.
I never have to worry about under or over watering. They make sure everything stays healthy, dust the plants, and keep them looking beautiful and thriving year round.
Frequently asked questions
At what stage should we bring you in?
Design development. Late enough that the plan is real, early enough that planters can be integrated and lighting can be specified rather than retrofitted.
Will you issue something we can put in the project manual?
Yes — a plant and planter schedule against CSI 12 92 00, with placement, sizes and vessel specification.
Do you handle procurement and installation, or just specify?
Both. We source, inspect, acclimate and stage everything, then install with our own team and hand over with care documentation.
Do you work on residential projects for designers?
Yes, including under non-disclosure. Several of our residential projects are covered by one.
